Assessment is a necessary part of the process of learning. Teachers use data from assessments to measure student growth, and understand how their practice may change based on student achievement. Assessment can be a frequent dipstick check in (formative), and a larger end of unit or end of year data point (summative). Below you will find common Jeffco and CDE assessment practices.

Formative assessments come in many forms. Throughout a larger unit, a teacher may formatively assess their students once a week, or even daily. The data we get from formative assessments allow us to change our practice as teachers as we notice what our students are learning or not learning from the lessons we teach daily and weekly.
